CONTRL_ALT_TIC 2010/2020
80 X 100 cm Acrylic and spray paints on canvas

When, some years ago, the music industry was up in arms about publishing rights (but mainly record sales), vis-a-vis illegal download sites, there were people countering their worries by claiming that taping didn't kill music in the 80's and 90's. Now, some years later, there is a new worry: Apps such as TikTok, and other streaming sites have a grasp on the way music is consumed. This time it will not kill music either, it will only kill the quality of music.

LIFE AND HOW TO LICK IT 2008
140 X 100 cm  Acrylic and lacquer paint on canvas

In the left hand corner, two rock'n'roll-type teenagers look the painter/spectator arrogantly in the eye. They seem to have faith in the future. However, there is a slight sliver of doubt in their eyes too, but they wont yield to it. At least, not yet. For now they live from dusk 'till dawn, cigarettes in the morning, breakfast at night.
WRONG CARTOON 2016
120 X 80 cm Acrylic paint on canvas

The Bambi-like figure is somewhat confused. He exclaims:”Oh boy, I'm gonna be a real boy!”. However, most people will know that is not correct, that it is a quote from another animated film: Pinocchio. Donald Duck has got nothing to do with it, that is why he got crossed over. The artist often feels like that too: as if he is been drawn in the wrong cartoon.
